Hot-Melt Adhesives

NYCOA’s portfolio of specialty random multi-polymers is engineered to offer low crystallinity and hence lower melting point versus standard nylon grades.

NYCOA’s low melting nylonsare used in applications such as hot-melt adhesives. The melting point for NYCOA’s low-melt nylon grades ranges from 120°C to 160°C and the melt viscosity can be tailored to meet customer performance specifications. NYCOA can offer these grades at varying ranges of viscosity and crystallinity, and has active research and development programs in hot melt adhesives for customers seeking unique and customized nylon polymers.

Low Yellowness Index

Excellent Dry Cleaning Resistance

Excellent Green Strength (draw down strength)

When used as hot-melt adhesives, NYCOA’s low melting nylons offer very good chemical resistance and improved UV resistance and can be processed as a single-component system.

They can be converted via a range of processes including melt print, extrusion (film, web, and filament), overmolding, solvent systems, and powder.

They are used in applications requiring a solution to complex bonding problems such as automotive headliners, technical textiles, floor coverings, upholstery, and specialty apparel.

NYCOA’s product portfolio includes adhesives that show excellent adhesion to highly plasticized f-PVC and other difficult to bond to substrates.

NYCOA has also developed low-melt nylon grades that are based on Caprolactam free nylon chemistry. These adhesives are used in automotive headliner applications for improved air-quality in vehicle interiors.

NYCOA low melt adhesive grades can also be used as a barrier layer between two substrates, to stop or minimize migration of chemicals and migrating dyes.
